2008 VINTAGE Intense storms followed by a frigid spring, dry conditions and erratic heat spikes shaped the 2008 growing season. But even the long frost period couldn’t chill the enthusiasm of our first VHR harvest.

During the cool morning hours, we handpicked grapes from Block 6 on September 12 and 27 (2.0 tons per acre), Block 7 on September 25 (2.8 tons per acre) and finished with Block 4 on October 8 (2.3 tons per acre). While crop production was low throughout Napa Valley due to the challenging weather, our VHR vines (3,611 total) offered us small, intensely black berries that were deeply concentrated and highly expressive of the land’s natural gifts.
